Tyler Goodson, who was featured on the popularS-Townpodcast series, died after a police standoff, according to authorities.
The New York Timesreported that officers arrived at a home in Woodstock, Alabama, after midnight on Sunday and allegedly found Goodson, 32, barricaded inside.
“A multitude of law enforcement officers from various agencies responded to the scene to assist. During the course of the incident, Goodson brandished a gun at officers. Goodson was shot and later pronounced deceased," the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said in a statement toWIAT.
According toPatch.com, Goodson wrote in a Facebook post on Sunday, “Police bout to shoot me down in my own yard.”
PEOPLE reached out to the Alabama Law Enforcement agency and did not immediately hear back.

“This is a devastating situation. We’re still — all of us — still in shock about it. Tyler was a talented young man. I mean he had many talents, but depression is real. He wasn’t just a character in a podcast. He was a son, father, [and] brother. It’s going to be hard for the family,” he said.
The mayor also asked the public to be “compassionate and respectful” towards Goodson’s loved ones. Woodson leaves behind five children, according toWBRC.
TheS-Townpodcast was an early success upon its 2017 release. In its first week, episode downloads reached 16 million, perThe New York Times. The podcast also received a2017 Peabody Award.
A description of the podcast found on itswebsitedescribes it as a show “about a man named John who despises his Alabama town and decides to do something about it.”
