A teacher from North Dakota has been arrested and accused with sending naked pictures of herself to a 17-year-old student.

A detective with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department was called to the school last month to investigate a tip about a teacher who had allegedly been sending inappropriate pictures to male high school students via Snapchat.

While at the school, the detective spoke with a 17-year-old student about Schmidt. According to the affidavit, the student allegedly made a comment that “he could get the math teacher in trouble for pictures that she had sent him.”

TheGrand Forks Heraldreports that the student alleged he received “three or four naked photos on Snapchat” from Schmidt in August and September of 2018. According to the affidavit, at least one of the photos was of Schmidt, naked from the waist up, with her hair covering her chest.

The affidavit states that another was a photo of woman’s legs with the caption, “get a group and play naked hide and seek.”

When police interviewed Schmidt, she allegedly admitted that she had sent the photos, according to the affidavit and multiple news reports.

After the arrest, Beulah Public School District Superintendent Travis Jordan told theBismarck Tribunethat Schmidt had been placed on administrative leave while the school district conducted its own investigation. Last Friday, Schmidt resigned from her position; she was in her first year of teaching.

It is unclear whether one or multiple students were involved in the case.

Schmidt was released on $10,000 bond, court records show.
