Sandy Hango has been teaching her nearly 2-year-old daughter Evelyn to snowboard since she was “3 days old" and has been documenting her daughter’s journey over a series of videos shared toTikTok.
Before she could even walk, Sandy was strapping her little girl to her chest as she rode on her snowboard. As Evelyn began to get more steady on her own two feet at home, she would practice on her own mini-board with a bar to hold onto.

“As a former preschool teacher I always encouraged parents to start activities with their child as young as possible,” Sandy tells PEOPLE. “Children are sponges and will absorb whatever you do. My daughter soaked up all the love for snowboarding and I couldn’t be happier!”
Sandy, who has been snowboarding since 5th grade, says they first went to the mountain with Evelyn when she was 2 months old for “a few runs on the bunny hill.”

She tells PEOPLE she wasn’t nervous to hit the slopes with the little one as she considers herself “a pretty confident rider” and that she “would never have taken her out if I didn’t feel 100% comfortable.”
“My favorite thing about snowboarding with my daughter is watching her smile and having fun,” Sandy shares of her daughter, who turns 2 in March. “She truly loves it! She dances, she waves to people, and she asks for ‘more.’ I’m so excited that she and I share a love for the same sport.”
Sandy says her friends and family have all been supportive of the venture — despite wishing she was skiing instead.

“But after they have seen the videos and actually see Evelyn snowboarding they are coming around to the idea,” she says, noting that her husband Alexander and his family are all skiers.
And from the sound of it, with a lifetime of experience under her belt, little Evelyn is hooked.
Adds Sandy, “Anytime we are outside at home or at the mountain she says ‘Mama snowboard please.'"
