I am the founding father ofLab Muffin Beauty Scienceand a science educator .
What did it take to get here ?
I ’ve always loved teaching ! I was n’t really a natural at picking up science as a bookman , so I really appreciated all of the tremendous , inspirational teachers I adjoin along the way . I went through the common scientific discipline education route : high schooling scientific discipline , bachelor ’s degree in chemical science , PhD in alchemy .
I started tutoring younger kids when I was 14 , did some science lab demonstrating and take up a teaching fellowship at the University of Sydney during my PhD. After graduate , I also teach at Matrix Education , finally becoming the pass of chemistry there where I helped spell their pedagogy material and civilize up teacher .
I start out my web log Lab Muffin Beauty Science in 2011 during my Ph.D. , as a creative way out and yet another means of education ( I ’m clearly a little obsessed ! ) . That expand into anInstagramaccount and aYouTube epithelial duct , and it ’s of late become my full - time job .
Imagine you ’ve met yourself as a teenager at a careers clean : How would you identify what you do to your former self ?
I break down the science behind beauty product . Every day is different ! It ’s a premix of writing , video redaction , motion-picture photography , picture taking , go to events , negotiating contract , web design … it ’s fantastic if you have a go at it being creative and ca n’t handle routine , but it ’s such a new kind of area that there ’s very little guidance for what you should or should n’t be doing – adequate part chilling and exciting !
What ’s the most plebeian misconception about your personal credit line of work ?
That people who use beauty products do n’t like about science .
Favorite moment on the job ?
Probably when I got to squirt sunscreen all over my face for a video recording .
big fail on the Book of Job ?
When the sun blocker fix into my eye . It burn off !
What do you never leave the house without ?
My diary – my day fall apart without it !
What ’s one piece of advice you ’d give to someone need to embark on the same vocation ?
Be whippy , be sort out , and stress to have a disengagement alternative .
