When we left the beautifully bald-pated Eph last installment , he had just come in DC with nothing but plan for a bioarm to destruct the vampires in his pocket and an indeterminate drink trouble . He wants to somehow get the vamp - virus made and the National Guard to distribute it in rules of order to save Manhattan , and hopes to look up his Justice department buddy Rob for help . Despite Eph go under an assumed name and being wounded , Rob is happy to agree and position up a confluence with Lee Thomas from Generic Big Company ( I promise you , the name ’s not authoritative ) .
In a complete turnaround from stock Strain operating procedure , Eph accomplishes this in about 48 hours despite being a dude pedaling an untried bioweapon to be drop on NYC while under an assumed name . Yes , neither Generic Big Company nor the National Guard seem to have any problem accept Eph ’s tidings on face time value , nor do they do any diligence in even looking him up on Facebook . It ’s completely absurd , but it ’s absurd in a way that moves this plot of ground forward promptly , and I shed a glad tear when I realize Eph was suffer . It . Done .
Of course , you do n’t need to love that The Strain was renewed for season three to guess that there is a small hitch in Eph ’s plan , which is to say his buddy Rob and Lee are assassinate in front of him , and only the fact that the assassinator very stupidly does n’t think Eph may be gird allows Eph to kill the killer . After a briefly look on the assassinator ’s phone , where he has carely made The Stoneheart Group listed as a get through complete with the prescribed fellowship logotype as its profile moving picture ( this is not a peculiarly good assassin , you guys ) , Eph flees . I ’m guessing the rest of his plan is likewise mess up , but perhaps we ’ll get more Mr. Goodweather Goes to Washinton next calendar week .

He does n’t know how .
If this sounds like virtually no real help at all , well … you ’re right . Honestly , I experience like The Strain is trolling me specifically with this glacier - like Fitzwilliam folderal . It does n’t help oneself that Fitzwilliam dies in a vampire fight when Nora and Carl ’s Jr. are attacked by Kelly and a couple of her spider - babies in a church , meaning his electric discharge — where he was ask to assist , decided to help , and then helped by introducing a raw secret plan component with no context whatsoever — which somehow needed to take place over three goddamned episode — has hail to a finis . At least it ’s a jolly good legal action sequence , principally thanks to the continued creepiness of the spider - babies .
However , the instalment ends with the big gamechanger since last time of year ’s close . Eichorst bring ex - goth rocker Gabriel Bolivar to the basement where the damaged Master is chilling in a back of the crap of his homeland . Eichorst cogitate the Master is sound to choose him to receive his vampire communion sacrament ; instead , he is quite taken aback when the Master choose Bolivar ’s face to vomit worms at . ( Seriously , Eichorst ’ expression of shock and lugubriousness is screaming ) . But Eichorst feel considerably when the Master ’s articulation , now speaking through Bolivar ’s much less zany vampire body , tells Eichorst and I quote , “ You ’re my special child . ”
So the Master is in a Modern body , kind of making a new opposer , and one presumably at full power . If nothing else , it should be way easier for the show to put the less particular - event - laden Bolivar - Master on screen , so he should be more unnerving in that manner , if nothing else . Plus , as Eldritch alludes to during his hissyfit with Eichorst in one of those deep industrial country Fitzwilliam clued the gang into , “ Phase 2 ” is part tomorrow .
Could more affair happen in next workweek ’s episode ? I do n’t have a go at it ! It seems so crazy , but I kind of consider they might , guys ! As long as Gus and Angel are stay fresh completely separate from the chief plot , hopefully the upheaval wo n’t get too much for us .
Assorted Musings :
• Oh , Quinlan ( who has n’t been mention yet in the show , I do n’t believe ! Two installment and counting ! ) visits the Vampire Elders , and fundamentally tells them they ’re silent - dumbs for a few minutes . It ’s pretty satisfying which is good , because he does nothing else in this episode .
• Quinlan can also completely walk around in the day . Hood of his hoodie down and everything . He does n’t even fume . Is their something special about him , or has The Strain totally stopped throw a shite about this ? I honestly do n’t have sex . I would have assume the former , but then Quinlan tell the stupid Vampire Elders he needs human hunters who can walk around in the daylight , which seems altogether unnecessary since we ’ve literally seen him walk around in the day just fine .
• Eph is happy to get drunk with Lee when Generic Big Company agrees to make the vamp - virus in celebration , but he also become down several drink during his DC misstep to “ stay piercing . ” Could Eph really just be a heavy drinker who is fully functional and does n’t in reality have an abuse problem ? It does n’t seem potential , but seriously , his imbibition has caused zero problem since he began pledge again in time of year one .
• Setrakian decollate Fitzwilliam before he can even finish his judgment of conviction . Setrakian does n’t have time for this crap .
• Which is more absurd : 1 ) That an Indian eating place is still doing extradite during a vampire Revelation ? 2 ) That a father would send out his own daughter to hand over take - out intellectual nourishment during a vampire apocalypse ? Or 3 ) that the daughter would literally point out to her father that there ’s a vampire apocalypse going on , and the forefather does n’t worry and demand she take it anyways ?
• That said , $ 99.75 ( including $ 50 livery ) seems pretty reason for two decently sized bags of food , all affair considered .
• New York City in reality looks a little apocalyptic in this week ’s episode ; there ’s a burned out railway car , multitude run around in the setting , and a more oecumenical sense of chaotic abandonment . This is undermined by the stateless fop who watches Quinlan get out of his avant-garde ( and , I must remind you , into a very pleasant day ) . count , vampires , I do n’t require to tell you your caper , but if you ca n’t manage to eat the multitude who literally spend their evenings asleep on the street , you want to take a serious look in the mirror . You cognise , metaphorically speaking .
