Glen PowellandSydney Sweeneyare teaming up for an R-rated romantic comedy that already has fans buzzing.
TitledAnyone But You,the project was first announced in January 2023before the cast headed to Australia for production. In early October theater-goers got the first glimpse of the trailer before Taylor Swift’sEras Tour filmand recently, PEOPLE exclusively sharedthe first look at the poster.
DuringCinemaCon 2023in Las Vegas,Powell and Sweeney gave some insight into the film, telling fans that the story revolves around “two people that hate each other.”
While Sweeney is known for her dramatic roles, includingEuphoriaandThe Voyeurs, Powell is no stranger to the romantic comedy genre, having previously starred in the hit Netflix filmSet It Upalongside Zoey Deutch.

Powell and Sweeney have some big names joining them in the film, including Dermot Mulroney, Rachel Griffiths, Alexandra Shipp, Michelle Hurd, Bryan Brown, Darren Barnet and Hadley Robinson.

The film’s official logline reads, “When college arch-nemeses reunite years after graduation for a destination wedding, they pretend to be a couple for their own personal reasons. But through pretending, they actually fall in love.”
Sweeney and Powell further detailed the film’s plot during CinemaCon 2023. “This movie’s about two people that hate each other. Sydney plays a character [who is] a real nightmare,” theTop Gun: Maverickactor told the audience. Meanwhile, Sweeney said that Powell’s character is a real “a–h—.”
“And what better place to put a nightmare and an a–h— than on the other side of the world in the most romantic setting imaginable?” Powell teased of the film.

Filming for the movie kicked off in February 2023 in Sydney, Australia where Powell and Sweeney were photographed filming several scenes together, including one on a boat and another in front of the iconic Sydney Opera House where the actors shared a passionate kiss.

On Oct. 19, Sony Pictures released the first teaser trailer for the film, which gives a better glimpse at arch-nemeses-turned-lovers romance.
