The Amazing Spider - Man is practically a motion comic — there are so many striking Heron mannerism and shaft of Spidey posing on the sides of buildings . It ’s like a enceinte Spidey comedian brought to lifespan . But what else should we be looking out for in this superhero reboot ? Director Marc Webb make us the complete running game - down of Easter eggs , comics nod , and other material to look on out for .
Plus , Webb reveals how he make out to capture unfeignedly personal kinship moments in an action mechanism movie . Minor freebooter ahead …
Peter Parker is such a little shit in this movie . If you look at it from an adult point of view . He ’s the ultimate angsty teen who acts out .

Marc Webb : He has a short punk rock quality to him .
How do you balance him acting this style and but also finding a room to permit the audience to sympathize with him ?
I would n’t describe him in that way , personally . I think what ’s really important is , when I thought about Peter Parker , I set out from the ground up . Who is this Kyd ? He is somebody who has been pulled aside from his parents at an early age ( 5 , 6 , 7 , years erstwhile ) . That will have a huge excited impact on your life . And I think what that will do is , make you a little more distrustful of the population around you . You got a little spot of a scrap on your shoulder . He ’s convey a small moment of an yield with authorization . If you look at the comics he ’s catch this sarcastic vibration , which I like to [ gaining control ] . But I wanted a basis in the character for it . So that ’s really where that came from . I think that if you may have the world through the character ’s center , you run to empathize with them and understand their behavior . And that was the endeavor .

I will take on he ’s also got a great earnestness to him ..
He also has a generous whim . He attempt to do the right affair , which I think for the audience carries a vast amount of weight . In that first scene with Gordon [ where a fry is being bullied at schooling ] he tries to stop it and takes a punch . There ’s this mental attitude that ’s deep inside of his character . And again , if the hearing thinks that there is some sort of generosity [ inside the character ] they ’ll give you much more licence .
Tobey ’s functioning is way unlike than Andrews . As a devotee of the book , when you watch over Tobey Maguire ’s performance did you want him to be more sarcastic ?

Yeah , nah , I accept Tobey . He ’s not bad and fun and does emotion in a very evocative , interesting and insidious direction . But there is something about the comics and the body fluid of it , the satire and the pungency that I really liked . But it ’s a unlike , getting those sally , it ’s a different esthetic , to do it realistically when you ’re shooting a movie rather than in the comics . It ’s got ta be a minuscule more grounded . That was a really fun part of that . Again , it ’s about finding that genuinely within the character .
Was there any particular scene from the comics that you really want to sprout ?
Not really . Because we make up a fate of the set slice , there were moments from the comics that were pose [ that we copied ] . And a stack of esthetic things from Gwen Stacy ’s in The Amazing Spider - Man , to a pile of the postures and the body type from the Ultimates . Those were thing that I remember being very specific about . Because we ’re endeavor to create a taradiddle that has a long electric discharge than an issue of a comic , you had to really reinvent those matter . Although there are moments — there ’s a great panel in the comics where Spider - Man and the Lizard are engaged in this death embrace . I tried to use a little bit of that at a different angle , but that interaction was very much an inspiration for the scene in the cloaca .

The work bench scene directly out of a panel from the comics .
You know , that ’s interesting like in the Ultimates where he ’s make the goggles on , you ’re 100 % correct . That was from the Ultimates . Him in his Aunt and Uncle ’s cellar with the webshooters , and dancing in his briefs . I remember that . We did n’t put him in his briefs .
While we ’re on the matter of lover nods , I noticed that you put the Lizard in his lab coating , albeit briefly because obviously in the veridical world that animate being would n’t jibe in a lab pelage .

That was a tricky thing , realistically how would that happen ? And it gets pull off of him . But I had to , I want to at least acknowledge that , that piece of work from the strip . Which was so much playfulness and makes him , in a agency , much more human .
Are there any other nod we should be looking for while we look on it ?
Well , [ Peter Parker ] falls through the level into the wrestling ring . Which is of course a nod [ to Spidey ’s wrestling calling in the comedian ] , because we ’re re - navigating those waters I wanted to at least acknowledge that . There are piddling bits and pieces . When Spider - Man jumps off the bridge for the first time to go pursue the Lizard , there ’s this pose that came from the comedian . There are a few other thing here and there , that I do n’t need to break for the audience .

You mentioned in the pressure conference that you wanted to ground Spider - Man in “ private personal moment ” like the moments you created in 500 daylight of Summer . Can you expound on exactly what you meant by that ? And how that changed the fundamental interaction between Gwen and Peter ?
One of the really important thing about the Spider - Man comic are Peter Parker ’s domestic trouble , the obstacle and challenges he faces are really kind of terrestrial . Well , not quotidian , but he has trouble asking young lady out . He has to get eggs for Aunt May , he has really average problem . We can all identify with that , and realize how they can really complicate our lives in way that are annoying but very , very existent . You take that and you contrast that against these big second . I just wanted those petty moments to feel real . I desire them to feel relatable . I think that comes from casting and permit those actors to find little specific moments that find real and not design , not orchestrated . Andrew and Emma are both actors that have an enormous capacity for improvisation but also naturalism .
Is that improv ? A good deal of directors say they need their characters to “ experience material . ” But you actually fulfil that here , and have done so in the past as well . You always manage to reveal genuine mo in relationships . I just do n’t think this course occur when you twist on the camera , what length do you go to , to execute that ?

It ’s working with the actors , so that they feel good . So they feel that they can do in a manner that does n’t infract their sense of world . Being very attentive and listening to what they like , without fall back ken of the story , and the dandy obligation you have with moving the story forward and whatever else you ’re try on to protect . A lot of it is about spontaneity , and a hatful of it is about chemical science . And a lot of is you just ca n’t analyze too deeply . You get on set and you do n’t over rehearse things and you shoot , and shoot , and shoot and you try thing . Some thing do n’t work , and some things do . It ’s about cultivating those moment and protect them in the edit . That ’s another matter . There ’s actors who do lines , but you ca n’t edit around lines , you have to edit around behavior . An hearing will take in a fibre not through how they tattle , but they ’re absorbing head turns , and blinks , shift of the elbows and looks . All that is incredibly important and all that can really chop-chop be throw to the wayside . That ’s the subtlety , that ’s the contingent that makes these performances real .
Why was it authoritative for you to include the “ metropolis coming to Spider - Man ’s aid ” moment ?
I really loved that in the first movies . Those have always got me misty . I intend there ’s something very deeply passionate between Peter Parker and the city of New York . I love the idea of New York derive to his tending , and that was a way to demonstrate and pad that .
