Abraham Lincoln
Lincoln Portrait
When a man diagnose Albert Kaplan purchased the pic above , label “ portrayal of a Young Man , ” from an artwork gallery in New York in 1977 , he decided that its bailiwick looked like a young Abraham Lincoln .
Kaplan has spent long time trying to prove this , including getting a plastic sawbones , for some grounds , to study the double . The plastic surgeon gibe that the photo show Lincoln and many have since run with this mind .

While trusting the plastic sawbones , Kaplan has dismissed the many photo experts he consulted who enjoin him that the photo did not depict Lincoln , includingJoe Nickell , Alfred V. Iannarelli , and Lloyd Ostendorf . Those experts notice physical differences between the man in the photograph and Lincoln that prove it is not Lincoln .
But even without these findings , the biggest trouble with the claim that this exposure establish Lincoln is that it lack cradle ( a document chain of custody to the original owner or the shoes of origin ) .
Thus we ’re supposed to believe that whoever own the other exposure of perhaps America ’s greatest president did n’t care enough to mark it or keep it in the family ( and apparently , that Lincoln did n’t even keep his own copy ) , such that it could vanish for more than a century until the keen heart of Albert Kaplan come about to discover it . The melodic theme strains credulity .
