We survive Daylight Savings Time and theApple Watchnews Hz . As a reward , here are the gorgeous watch and clocks thatall of you own .
Winner: Time Distortion
I thought this would be a great challenge the second I read it . I work on in a jewelry store and have access to so many different watch move and watches . I figured everyone send out an accounting entry in would just take a plain pic of a clock or watch face or movement , so I decided to do a trivial editing to the photo I took . Watch movements are n’t that colorful to begin with and I thought a little color would help the photo . I do n’t own a fancy DSLR , so I used my 6 year honest-to-god Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS on Auto Mode because it arrest salutary Macro shots this way . Original photo was take in a photo box on plain whitened scope . I then used an amateur editing program to adjust the cleverness , shadows , highlights , and contrast to add a little coloring material while still keeping the main components and writings visible . As you’re able to see this is a lovely Wittnauer watch movement , 17 Jewels , Unadjusted , Model 5JM , Swiss Made .

Lunchtime
When I read the contest subject and what you are looking for I decide to take a picture which i probable report clock time in several way ’s
1 . ) the watch bear witness the time
2 . ) this particular watch combines two different periodes of ticker making . The mechanically skillful historic period and the digital age . The mechanical part does not wind up the mechanics but is prompt a source to load the “ stamp battery ” .

3 . ) it ’s 12 o’clock and therefore time for dejeuner :O ) or the time where I change my status from working to reload

I Don’t Care For It
This is part of my clock collection . As you’re able to probably pretend , I really do n’t care for the time variety .

BITS
I ’ve been work for a Telecommunications party for a petty over 1 year doing mostly help desk . The past few months I have been train in the TeleComm side and have been expose to so much equipment and admiration for the phone Robert William Service . But one of the most crucial objet d’art of equipment that I have had the pleasure of hear about is the BITS Clock or the Building Integrated Timing System . This clock is creditworthy for all of the timing for both inner timing and all of our client facing services . It provides timing to the telephone system , which is synchronized with AT&T , to ensure that all voice service are in sync . You sleep together when you spill the beans on a earphone and the mortal interpreter “ slowdown ” ? That ’s all provided by the timing system .

Serious Time
There is no situation on globe where time is taken more severely than this placement – The US Naval Observatory . This is the stairway to the US Naval Observatory ’s 26 in “ Great Equatorial ” refractor telescope in the primary USNO building ( look down , of course ) . The telescope is still used to do geodesy , which is , of course of action , inextricably unite with USNO ’s fourth dimension mission as well . It does little full to know what time it is if you do n’t jazz where in the existence your major planet it . This staircase prompt me of the eternity and the precision of time – and its pretty nerveless that its part of the very material of the computer architecture of USNO . The setup was simpleness itself – i pointed my iPhone 6 down from the top of the lookout station level down to the bottom of the stairs . Boom .

Omega Moonwatch
I collect watch and I have a passion for space exploration . When I see this contest I know I had just the subject for my “ Time ” submission … The Omega Moonwatch . I take this iconic watch and placed it on a breathtaking photo from the moon . posture with the NATO shoulder strap and display the clock time better than any sentry I own . I snapped this photograph with a simple light-emitting diode light light up the scene . With a little touch up from Lightroom , I have my masterpiece !

Kenneth Cole
First time entry here – so I thought I ’d give your Time contend a shot . I have a Kenneth Cole skeletonized watch that was given to me as a endowment last Christmas , so my setup was fairly simple . I put the watch on top of a small LED flashlight so it would be backlit then shined another flashlight on it from the side to bring out some contingent . ISO800 , f/16 , 1/160th on a Nikon D800e .

Not Time Yet
I ’ll hand down this watch to my son when he ’s old enough . He ’s two years sometime now , and the only times he care about are play time , dinner clock time , bath prison term and seam time .
I ’d by chance go out the light on all solar day where my watch sit . When I turned it off , the lume was glowing brilliantly on all the lookout man with glowing hour markers . The Milgauss Z now stand out ; it ’s marking are blue , whereas all the rest are unripened , and on the vintage ones , quite dumb . I move it to an opened spot on the table and shot this with only the visible radiation from the hall filtering in from the side . tv camera : Panasonic DMC - GH1 , Voightländer Nokton 25 mm F0.95 Exposure ½ sec , ISO-1600 .

Big Clock
I always past this storage facility on my way to work . It has this big clock you see here present the thruway . I ’m not indisputable how meter helps them commercialise this construction but it always let ’s me roll in the hay when I ’m late to go . Kinda did a play on the organized lines and the chaotic stunner of the wall painting underneath it . inject this with my “ EDC ” Sony RX-100 m1 . 1/250 . F5.6 . ISO 125 . edit on my iphone with the PS app .

Skeleton
This photograph was take with an iPhone 4S with a clip on macro lens . It is the inside of a mechanically skillful skeleton sentinel movement . It is challenging to look out the motion work out with just a quick wind of the crown .

24-Hour Pocket Watch
So what do I have here … This is a G.C.T. ( Greenwich Civil Time ) 24 - time of day pouch watch . Brass with Ni plating . Size 16 Hamilton Railroad movement originally adjusted to 6 - location and temperature . These watches were common in the military in their day . The movement is originally a normal 12 - minute miscellany , but additional gearing is apparently how they update them to take in 24 - hours . Mine is in practiced Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe , but necessitate a cleansing . However , mine does have one especial characteristic … when I buy this in about 2002 I had the original back undercut and a plastic crystal glued into place , so that the back / interior of the sentry can be see as well . It ’s too beautiful a move to be obscure in my belief , but exhibition back were not vernacular at that time . And were n’t particularly useful for a watch that need to be durable and rugged .
I do have a decent ikon of the motion as well , but the rules bespeak only one submission . I ’m happy to supply it as well for your Emily Post of selected picture show if you ’d care to add it as just something to see . My original intent was to submit the movement depiction , but after I finished create the figure of the watch face I find I liked it more . Such is the way things go in picture taking , right ?
Regarding my solidifying - up … I used a homemade Light Within corner to keep in line and crystallize the watch . It ’s as DIY as I get in life . Camera particular proposition are a Canon 7D with EF100 mm f/2.8 Macro USM lens ( last genesis ) on a Manfrotto tripod . options were 1/60th at f/9.0 and ISO 250 . Basic edit in Lightroom to increase vulnerability , correct white balance and tincture . However , this particular photo command something different I think . rather of the narrow astuteness of bailiwick distinctive of the macro lens of the eye I thought it would be nice to try image stacking in Photoshop , which I had never done before .

I snapped 12 pictures full at various focus points , then used Photoshop to align and merge the double into one with greater depth of force field . bear in mind you , both processes were wholly automated , so there was no real ‘ work ’ necessary on my part . I profess it was , in part , your post about the challenge that got me to think about what I could do that would be different ( at least to me ) regarding the role of my macro crystalline lens . Image pile seemed like the double-dyed selection and I ’m completely pleased with the solvent .

Juxtaposition
People often use the Son “ juxtaposition ” when name artistic production because they know “ juxtapose ” sort of means compare things and the Son sounds sophisticated . For example , “ I bonk the juxtaposition of the old hands reaching down to the young work force . ” It ’s like never going out to run through and then sending a steak back to bet like you ’re a real cognoscente . Sorry I ’m a little irritable — - my wife yelled at me for make her ride on the floor and snarf the child for this shot . Grandmom did not like my option of the word “ symmetrically ” when directing her hand placement . 😛 Nikon D800 , Nikon 85 mm f/1.4 , big fluorescent fixture anchor ring light on a multiboom .

Pebble Steel
buck with a Canon EOS 70D in natural light . I have a few older hint up alfilaria , which continue to work well and take care beautiful to this day . I think that it might be decent to juxtapose my Pebble Steel with one of them . After all , time is timeless no matter how it is presented .

I borrowed my roommate ’s sac watch for this one , and was curious if it still works . The clock is tick off perfectly . canyon 70D , 40 mm , f22 , 4sec , ISO 100

Blue Sky
My compliance was taken the Sunday of Daylight Savings on an old steer - up steampunk spotter that has it ’s movements exposed . It was shot on a Canon Rebel T1i with a 50 mm lens of the eye at f/8 and 1/400 s with an ISO of 400 . It was take on the my roof to take reward of the perfectly blue sky – important to show off the mechanical movements of the spotter and to intend the handing over of time , not only as a happy chance from the spell of dismal grey we ’ve suffered through , but also a sign of the coming outflow .

Life in Time’s Shadow
This park is a unconstipated stop on my bike rides through the metropolis , astonishing views , inlaid photomosaic of the Rocky Mountains , and this beautiful sundial . It is a public park , not far from my home in Denver . After a major operating theater in 2012 , cycling became forcible , and genial rehabilitation . Lunches , and residual break here are quite common . This metropolis is my adulthood home , and this park is a large part of how I fell in dear with it again . Between the flock scene , the view of Downtown Denver skyline , and just the fact it ’s all a short cycle drive away can make me smile any daylight .
The sundial is of Chinese blueprint , much like one-half of me . It always sustain looks , is a child ’s jungle gym , or my bike stand . Originally installed in 1941 , to only be blow up in 1965 . The one photographed was installed in 1966 as a replacing . It , and the whole site has seen full 24-hour interval .
Knowing I wanted to shoot this , as it is a ‘ different ’ timekeeper , and that it has meaning to me I did n’t hump when I got there today how I ’d want to draw up it . By chance of where I chose to park ( too inhuman , and too much equipment to bike ) my cable car , as I walked up the steps , I go through the view you see here . The sundial towering over the Wells Fargo ‘ Cash Register ” construction in Downtown Denver , and the thousands of feet gamy Rockies . This position , is what we all receive with time , something that predominate over us , we will always be in its trace . The property we can not control , much like the trace telling sentence on the sundial will keep be active , it can not cease , it just keeps going . A shadow say time , on just the power of the Sunday . This all being in the relative sense , of course , for those who require dive into aperient .

116th Anniversary
This grandfather clock belonged to my great - smashing grandfather . It was originally a wedding talent to my keen - slap-up grandparents , Henry and Teresa . It ’s been go across through the menage since then until my female parent received it as a present for her fortieth birthday . I set the time on the clock to 1:16 for this picture , because , according to family records , Henry and Teresa were tie March 9 , 1899 , which means this exposure was taken on the 116th day of remembrance of their wedding .

Hidden Gem
I shot this using my iPhone 5 . This is a hidden gem in Wellington , New Zealand – it is phone the “ Sun Dial of Human Involvement ” . In the middle of the sunshine dial , there is a memorial tablet on the ground that lists all the month and some escort ; my husband abide on today ’s date and stretch out his arm to tell the correct time . I then percolate the mental picture to black & white .

Glow
I want to show what a nice watch with a bright lume dial looks like . ( BTW , this is an NFW “ Shumate ” lookout man ) . I also wanted to show that the image of a watch can reveal something about the photograph itself . In this shell the photo shows the vulnerability time by way of the clouded arena of the wholesale second hand . In this shot you’re able to see that the fuzz covers 15 indorsement ( which is the metre it guide to expose the photo ) . Yes , this watch really does lume like this after it ’s been charged under a undimmed light . This is NOT illuminate by any other means . This exposure has not been photoshopped . The only manipulation was to crop it down a bit . I used Canon T2i with the received outfit electron lens , I used a tripod and a distant shutter . pic was 15 moment and my aperture was at F22 , ISO was 1600 .

We spent Sunday look for a clock column in one of the small towns surrounding ours . We knew one existed but could n’t find it . On our dangerous undertaking , I found these and rupture a few pic . When I got back to the car , it pass to me that I had lead every individual picture straight - on . I ran back to get one at an angle and terminate up with this sweetheart . I love how the gold and red play together . Shot was taken with a Canon Rebel t5i .

Calumet Theater Clock Tower
The Calumet Theater spread in 1900 , at a time when Calumet Michigan was a roaring mining town with over 30,000 people know within walk aloofness . During the windfall years it visualize the likes of Madame Helena Modjeska , Lillian Russell , John Phillip Sousa , Sarah Bernhardt , Douglas Fairbanks , Sr . , Lon Chaney , Sr . , Jason Robards , Sr . , James O’Neill , William S. Hart , Frank Morgan , Wallace and Noah Beery .
After the Cu gold rush ended , the city and it ’s theater have become a faint-hearted shadow of their former selves .
The house my majuscule gramps be in after immigrate from Finland in the 1880 ’s is less than a half naut mi away . This building with it ’s clock tower , still glorious as prison term has changed so much around it , exemplifies the past and the nowadays and the passage of clock time between .

As a new daddy of twin girls , you could understand my new stress in photography is my kids . I have it away , i never would ve thought I would become one of those people who perpetually fill up up their IG and FB account with photos of their kids , but sometimes I just ca nt avail myself . Anyway , I wanted to sample this shooting challenge because I love lookout . But this shoot was IMPOSSIBLE . Its gaga how kidskin do NOT want to abide still . I will never become a youngster photographer . I could nt get the correct picture that I had in my chief so finally I just grab the lookout and watched as my girls tried to take them from me . I had a bunch to choose from but this one I thought was the best
